Barbara Ann (Brown) Miles 82 years old of Greenwich passed away peacefully on
July 9, 2021 at Nathaniel Witherell Nursing Home. Barbara was born on February
11, 1939 to the parents of Edward and Catherine (Wagner) Brown. She was
married to Robert Lewis Miles on January 11, 1958 and they were married 63
years. Barbara attended Greenwich High School.
Barbara was a wonderful wife, mom, mother-in-law, nana, sister, aunt, and friend.
She worked at several job positions before settling at Union Trust Bank and then
retired from there. She continued as bookkeeper for her husband’s landscape
business until they both retired. Barbara truly cared about family. She enjoyed
going to the family softball games to cheer them on, watch her husband fish and
even watched the N. Y. Rangers with him. She continued the tradition going to
her Grandson Shane’s football games. Her favorite show was Wheel of Fortune
and liked to take family trips to Lake George. Barbara was a kind, caring and loyal
person. In January, 2008 her only grandchild was born, Shane Patrick O’Connor.
Shane was her pride and joy from the moment he was placed in her arms. Her
world revolved around Shane and the close bond they had together.
Barbara is predeceased by her husband Robert who passed away May 6, 2020,
her parents Edward and Catherine, her brother Henry (his wife Marie), brother
Edward, sister Dorothy (husband Cas), and her son Robert Miles Jr. who passed
away on June 4, 2013. Barbara is now together with her husband, son and family.
Surviving is her daughter Lisa (Miles) O’Connor, her husband John and their son
Shane of Cos Cob, daughter-in-law Sandi Miles of Norwalk, sister-in-law Jean
Brown of New Milford, and many nieces and nephews who she loved so much.
There will be a graveside memorial service on Thursday, July 15 th at 11:00 at St.
Mary’s Cemetery, 399 North Street, Greenwich, CT. All are welcome to join us in
celebration of her life.
