Obituary for Carl J Zumbo

Carl J. Zumbo, formerly of Greenwich, CT passed away on April 16, 2022, at the age of 80. He was born on December 7, 1941 in Greenwich, CT to Carl H. and Lucy (Mancuso) Zumbo. He was predeceased by his parents, his son John, and his English bulldog, Mush. Carl is survived by his wife of 50 years, Providence (Tripodi) Zumbo, his daughter Christina Zumbo-Zerega (Charles), grandson Giancarlo, sister Mary Cody, two nieces and many cousins and friends.

He graduated from Greenwich High School in 1959, attended the RCA Technical Institute, and became an electronics technician at Electronics for Medicine. He was then drafted into the U.S. Army and served as a Military Police Officer, Specialist 4th Class. He served during the Vietnam War and continued to proudly wear his veteran hat throughout his life.

Carl worked as a Convention Manager for 28 yrs. for Honeywell/PPG as well as managed banquets at the Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY. Before retiring, he worked for the Town of Greenwich at Hamilton Avenue and Old Greenwich Schools.

In 2014, Carl and Providence relocated to Central New Jersey to be close to their grandson.

Carl enjoyed playing golf, gardening, listening to doo-wop and country music, and spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed watching his grandson’s baseball games. He was a history buff and trivia enthusiast, and had a remarkable memory for dates and events.

Family and friends will gather at Castiglione Funeral Home, 544 Old Post Rd #3, in Greenwich, CT on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 from 5-8pm. A mass will be held at St. Roch Church, 10 Saint Roch Ave., Greenwich, CT at 10 AM on Thursday April 21, 2022.
