Obituary for Edward J Duff Sr.

Edward J. Duff Sr., of Naples, FL, formerly of Cos Cob, CT and South Londonderry, VT, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2021 in Naples, FL at the age of 94.
Ed was born on July 2, 1927 in Greenwich, CT to Harry J. Duff Sr. and Elizabeth Broderick Duff. In his early years the family moved to Stamford, CT where he grew up, attended Stamford Schools and was very active in local sports.
Ed was a veteran of World War II, having served with the US Merchant Marines. He also served in the Korean War as a member of the Army's 45th Infantry Division Military Police Division in both Japan and Korea.
Following his military service, Ed joined the Greenwich Police Department, serving 24 years and retiring in 1977 at the rank of Lieutenant. After retiring from the Greenwich Police Department, he became a successful automotive salesman.
Ed was a founding member of the Greenwich Police Emerald Society, a founding member of the Greenwich Police Department's Silver Shield Association and took great pride in the fact that it was his suggestion for the naming of the association. He was also a member of the 45th MP Association and the Sarasota-Manatee Chapter of the Merchant Marine Veterans Association.
A huge fan of UCONN and Notre Dame basketball and football teams, one of his favorite trips was going to South Bend to see Notre Dame football games.
In addition to his parents, Ed was predeceased by brothers Harry J. Duff Jr. and James F. Duff and son Edward Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years Barbara McInerney Duff, son Timothy (Lynn), sister Dorothy Daly and granddaughter Tara Stickney Vossler.
A celebration of Ed's life will take place at St Catherine of Siena Church in Greenwich at 10am, with burial to follow at St Marys Cemetery in Greenwich.
In lieu of flowers, Ed's request was donations be made to the Greenwich Police Department's Scholarship Fund 11 Bruce Place Greenwich, Ct., 06830.
