Obituary for Linda Patricia Kocot

Linda Kocot, 59, passed away after a long battle with cancer on September 20, 2022. She was surrounded by her family, and passed very peacefully. Linda was born in Port Chester, New York on March 17, 1963 to her parents Joseph and Velma Skovron, and siblings Joseph “Sonny” Skovron, Carol Wasik and Ken Skovron. She was the youngest of four children.

As a lifelong resident of Greenwich, CT, Linda attended Byram School, Western Middle School, and Greenwich High School. In her teenage years, she worked at the Greenwich Cheese Shop located on Greenwich Avenue. Later, Linda began work for ECS Marine in Greenwich, CT. With ECS Marine, she was able to travel to London, England for the first time. Eventually, Linda fell back into the world of cheese and began working for her brother, Ken, at Darien Cheese and Fine Foods, where she loved working with her family and interacting with customers. Finally, Linda settled at North Street School as a secretary, and worked there for over 25 years. The North Street School community became a second family to her. Linda truly adored all of the teachers, staff, students and families.

Linda valued her family more than anything. She met her husband, Chester K. Kocot on a blind date in September of 1989, and they quickly fell in love. Their friends Rhonda and Mike Tartaglia are to thank for setting them up on that blind date. They married on May 23, 1992 and soon had two children together. Their daughter Amanda Kocot was born in 1994 and their son Chester “C.J.” Kocot completed the family in 1997. Linda always knew the importance of family and deeply instilled that in her children.

In her free time, Linda loved spending time at the beach, cooking, baking, and being with her family and friends.

While cancer cut her life short, Linda lived each day to the fullest, and always treated everyone with kindness. Though she might be gone, her infectious smile and deep love for all will never be forgotten.

Linda is survived by her husband, Chester Kocot, daughter, Amanda Kocot, son, Chester “CJ” Kocot, sister, Carol Wasik, and brother, Ken Skovron.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations are made to The Leukemia Research Foundation.
