Obituary for Lynne E. Mardula

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend, Lynne Elizabeth Mardula (Blume) on February 27, 2023.
Lynne was born in Greenwich on June 1, 1951 and attended St. Mary’s Grammar and Girls High School.
Lynne worked most of her life in the hospitality industry, serving and bartending at various restaurants in the area and eventually opening her own place along with her late husband Richard Maguire.
They were proprietors of Captain Mudduck’s for more than a decade and it was the hot spot in town for many of those years. Much of its success could be attributed to Lynne’s bubbly personality, warmth and generosity. She was magnetic and welcomed one and all with that beautiful smile, making everyone feel special and making everything just a little more fun. The two eventually sold the restaurant and started a family when their beautiful baby girl Kelley was born.
Lynne was a doting stay-at-home mom for a bit but returned to work for Greenwich Schools System where she was the Head Cook and ultimate Lunch Lady at Central Middle School for many years. She made lunchtime everyone’s favorite part of the day and treated every child like her own. You could be sure that every child was fed with or without paying and no one ever sat alone. Lynne routinely perused the cafeteria giving out hugs and the school faculty loved her just as much as the students. At one point, she was voted Employee of the Year for the Town of Greenwich by her colleagues.
Love was Lynne’s mantra.
Throughout her lifetime Lynne had a special bond with her sister Mary, who in their younger days, both did some crazy antics together but were always each other’s rock through thick and thin. The same can be said of her Irish twin brother Eddie, who was one of her biggest ally’s and steadfast confidant until the end.
Lynne was blessed to find true love again when she met and married her husband Terry Mardula, affectionately known as “Dog” by close friends and family. He playfully referred to Lynne as “Torch” – perhaps because she was the light of his life and we’ll leave it at that. Together they enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, gardening and a shared passion for dogs, especially their own spoiled Maltese, Charlie. They generously shared their bountiful harvest of delicious tomatoes every summer and took lots of great trips, even to Pittsburgh to see Terry’s favorite team, the Pirates. Terry’s never-ending love and devotion for Lynne was remarkable during these more recent, difficult times and always remained solid throughout their twenty-three year marriage. We are all grateful that she had such a dedicated partner in her life.
Lynne leaves behind her husband Terry, daughter Kelley (Frank), and two grandsons, Richie and Aiden. She is survived by siblings, Bonnie, Eddie (Terri), Marylou, Ken, Mark, Marcia, Lizzie (Will), Jayne, Eric and Michael (Jackie), little “sister” Heidi and many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
She was predeceased by her parents, Ken and Mel Blume, sister Barbie, brother Brian, brothers in law Bill and Warren, and nephews Jack and Ryan.
