Ruth Ellen Piro passed away peacefully on July 16, 2022 at her home in Cob Cob at the age of 94. She was the daughter of William Tobin Sr and Mary Nugent Tobin. She was the wife of the late Rocco Piro Sr., who was truly the love of her life. Predeceased by brother William Tobin, Jr. and Marion Mullens. Survived by sons Rocco Piro Jr (wife Gail) and William Piro (wife Barbara) and five grandsons, Daniel Piro, Michael Piro, Christopher Piro, Tyler Piro, William Piro Jr and one granddaughter, Ashleigh Piro. “Ruthie” as she was most commonly called seemed to bring so much joy to everyone she came across. She was a very kind and loving person and had a great Irish sense of humor that resonated up to the time of her passing. Ruthie’s passion was taking care of children. She worked as a Nanny for many years for a family in Greenwich and also looked after her grandchildren and enjoyed that more than anything. Her courage and determination to reach a “ripe old age” is something to be admired, and she wanted to thank Drs. Kathleen Nurena and Henry Yoon for their kindness and compassion in her care. Fly with the angels our dear, sweet Ruthie. At Ruth’s request, there will be no calling hours. A private burial will be held with family members attending. Arrangements will be handled by Castiglione Funeral Home, Greenwich. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation can be made in Ruth’s name to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at www.jdrf.org.
